WHAT IS LEFT

What is Left
is an ongoing body of work examining the surroundings and remnants from the literal pathways traveled between my home and my father’s home, beginning in Summer, 2020.

As a natural explorer, finding myself limited to only a few locations, and mainly confined at home, in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, my work takes a closer look at the dynamic, ever-changing, tiny landscapes found below my feet.

Paralleling this extreme and unusual time in our society’s history, our family was dealing with a life-threatening cancer diagnosis for my father, whom I work with daily and was assisting in caregiving for during his treatments at this time.

Surrounded by death and a significant amount of fear in the world, my daily walkway and yard explorations reinforced my beliefs in the temporal reality of life. My work acknowledges our impermanent existence and gives significance to the fleeting moments we are gifted.
