THE EDGE

Navigating the desert lands will always result in meeting the edge. The line where the raw land ends and the building begins is striking and confronting. As a person who spent a considerable amount of my childhood exploring the desert that my own home was on the edge of, I cannot avoid encountering the edge, inching its way further into the coyote’s territory each year.

As human land-development increases in the desert, I use my camera and film to examine the re-structuring of desert-scape for optimal visual appeal, the assimilation of new “Desert Sand” painted homes with matching tile roofs, and other foreign interventions and oddities in the suburbs of Phoenix.
